John Manaves AIA NCARB

In 1999, John established MANA, along with partner Alice Kriegel, after both were acknowledged as one of Chicago’s Seven Young Visionary Architects for their winning entry in the Townhouse Revisited Competition sponsored by the Graham Foundation. Following MANA’s inception, they have received numerous awards and public recognition including second prize for the Ephemeral Structures in the City of Athens for the Olympics in 2004, semi-finalist in the Global Green Competition sponsored by Brad Pitt in New Orleans and as finalist for the RIBA, Building a Sustainable World Competition. These experiences, along with his personal aspirations to push his own creative boundaries, manifested into a desire to become involved in the creation of a vision for the future of architecture and their cities. In an effort to illustrate his vision, Manaves collaborated with top industry professionals including industrial designers, fashion designers, graphics artists, fabricators, scientists and screenwriters. John is currently also teaching at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and has taught at TU Delft. He has lectured in the US, Germany, and The Netherlands.
